My sister is about to give birth soon and a lot has been telling her to drink red raspberry leaf tea to induce labor. Is this safe? Has anyone used this before?

Thank you so much! I'm actually reading around at the moment. I've been using herbal medicine since I was a teenager. I hope to learn more tips on herbal medicine here.

Hi Nashama, Blue lotus refers to Nymphaea caerulea, and this is the commonly referenced psychoactive lotus (actually a blue lilly).  Sacred lotus, known as Nelumbo nucifera is also active (the stamens are the most potent), but the effects are slightly different than the blue lotus, which is somewhat narcotic in action.

You can buy properly identified blue lotus here: https://meridianbotanicals.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=646

and properly identified sacred lotus stamen here: https://meridianbotanicals.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=321

Do any of you know what form of lily is psychoactive and where to find it.  I discovered this: Crinum Laetifolium Vietnamese Lily is that psychoactive/euphoric?

Very interesting read. I love the anti-oxidant properties of it.

Hi Tonia,

Lotus Ecstasy is indeed quite bitter, this is due to the nature of Blue lotus itself, an extremely bitter herb.  The tea blend you mention can be made more palatable by #1, increasing the ratio of water to herbs, #2, simmering or steeping instead of boiling, and #3, by the addition of stevia, fruit juice, honey, or sugar.  I find the tea is not too bad when prepared right, but it may take a trial or two to hit the sweet spot.
