My adult daughter recently contacted me looking for some herbal meds that she might be able to use as an alternative to over-the-counter NSAIDs or aspirin. The main issue is that she has a bleeding disorder, where her body is missing or deficient in one of the clotting factors. My immediate thought was kratom, but that may be unavailable, soon, plus I'd rather find something a little gentler. I'm still researching, but my herb books aren't yielding much and much of what I've found, online, so far, also indicate a tendency toward having anti-coagulant properties. She recently had a medical procedure done relating to breast fibroadenomas, where they made a small incision and inserted an instrument into one of the nodules (don't have the particulars on the exact procedure, other than that). She's still experiencing pain in the area, more than a week after the actual procedure. The doc running the study wanted to suggest and NSAID, but said that he knew that wasn't possible, so she told him I was an herbalist (still in training...she gives me more credit than I deserve ;) ) and thought I might be able to help. Oddly enough, he was very supportive of the idea. From her description of the pain, it sounds like it's more neurological pain than something stemming from muscle or tissue. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Cat's claw can reduce blood pressure, but is not a blood thinner from the research I have done.  The plant is a kratom relative and works as a pain reliever, as well as a potent anti-inflammatory.  The Chinese variety is more specific as a pain reliever than the Peruvian.
