does detoxifying mean herb needs to be consumed on its own?
« on: October 06, 2014, 08:49:02 PM »

What I mean is... If I am to drink different detoxifying herbal teas, say like Dandelion or Pau d'Arco... should they be consumed only when you are Not trying to absorb nutrients?

Ex:
I just went to the gym and am coming back home to make food. I want to absorb as many nutrients as possible as close to the workout as possible. I was going to make some Pau d'Arco tea and realized this might be detrimental to my recovery.

Maybe the answer is obvious but will different detoxifying teas flush the good stuff out with the bad? maybe different detoxifyers work differently?

Thanks!

It depends on the detoxifying agent you are using.  When I take bentonite clay for example, I prefer to do so hours before & after I eat to avoid absorbing nutrients with the clay.  Some say this is not necessary but intuition points otherwise looking at the strong solvent-type properties of natural healing clays.

Pau d'Arco doesn't really cause detox from what I know of it, Dandelion can make you urinate more but is really more a liver cleanser.  I would be sure to consume extra nutrients with these herbs, especially the heavier laxative based detoxifiers like Essiac formulation.  Burdock, Slippery elm, Sheep sorrel, & Rhubarb... now that will detox you!
